i had an emg test done but during the test the neurologist didn't tell me to flex my muscles could that effect the results ?

No: no, you do not have to flex your muscles, just like they contract them.

Comments: Tough to say if your EMG was done properly or thoroughly, and this test has become a "bone of contention" since Medicare sharply reduced doctor fees, inappropriately.  You need to contact the doc who did the study, and ask the specific question you pose, and also, find out what was the outcome.  Good luck.

EMG/NCV: The test are combined as EMG and nerve conduction velocity. They often point to possibilities and may not always provide a final diagnosis. They provide insight into defects but not always the cause. Suggest see a neurologist.

i have dequ tendons surgery and my muscles tendons and joints repaired they sent me for a emg and nothing so what else coyld it be?

Dequervain ?: A lot will depend on your evaluation of the Dequervain. In that area there attends, bones, blood vessels, and nerve tissue. You should discuss with your doctor how this was diagnosed and evaluated and whether you need to see another physician.

aldolase normal...emg and  ncv normal ..esr normal....can you still have a muscle disease ?

Depends: Most muscle disease in elevation of CPK if their is muscle damage. Early muscle with minimal damage in normal renal function may have normal cpk.

had critical illness polymyopathy from status asthmaticus...now emg normal could i have type 2 muscle fiber damage and thats why normal emg?

How do you FEEL?: The best way to tell how well you have recovered from this complicated illness is by how you feel. Since long-term there's no specific treatment and conditioning is important, you are the one to answer the question. And you're right -- a normal EMG does not rule anything in or out. i suffer from elevated ck level from 400 to 1400 as a high. i had a emg, mri of the muscle, muscle biopsy all normal.  is this heritary?

Can be: There are people who naturally have high ck. The only caution I have is to make sure your muscle biopsy was read by a muscle pathology expert,  not only the general pathologist where the biopsy was done.  Muscle pathology is a highly specialized area.

emg of my t anterior, t posterior and medial gastroc found +psw, fibs in latter 2 muscles but normal amplitude, duration, recruitment of mups...cause?

EMG: You need the technician who ran the test or the physician who ordered the test to explain the significance to you. It appears that the test showed nothing of significance. Good Luck

28 female w/ muscle pain. emg had -3 fib/psw in thorardic paraspinal.  normal everywhere else but tib anter -1 duration few poly mup. possible causes?

Abnormal EMG?: ...your EMG must have been suggested by MD for a good reason...I strongly believe you should continue a close follow up with the physician to rule out fibromyalgia? early neuropathy?...a neurologist may be consulted...
