Kids vs adult dosing: For many medications, children's doses are weight based. At some point when you want to be considered an adult, typically 120# or more, everyone gets same dose regardless of weight. Instead, dose depends upon rationale as well as your individual response. my child has strep. she is 48.8 lbs. it is amoxicillin 400mg/5ml sus. she is suppose to take 6.2 ml a day, twice a day. this seems a little low to me? or is this correct for her weight?

: I find the dose fine for strep. It is often used at higher doses in ear infections where there is difficulty achieving a concentration that will kill those germs in middle ear mucus.

Amoxicillin weight: It is unlikely that Amoxicillin would cause weight gain.  There is some suggestion that certain colon bacteria may contribute to weight gain, and antibiotics might change this, but no good hard evidence.  It is more likely that the infection that is being treated, has somehow change your taste buds, appetite, or activity level, and this has contributed to your weight gain.

can amoxicillin and clarithromycin cause weight loss ?

Unlikely: Antibiotics may have side-effects and these two may cause some mild GI symptoms such as nausea. If you're on these meds for a couple weeks, and you're nauseated - you might lose a little bit of weight. You might want to try some ginger tea to help with the nausea. If you have fevers with the weight loss, this needs urgent evaluation. GI doctors can help with the evaluation for weight loss.

doc prescribed 500mg amoxicillin 3 times day. for unknown infection. can i just take it 2 times a day. i'm under weight and i feel that 3 times day is too much?

Yes: Taking Amoxicillin twice daily is adequate to treat most infections. All the best.

What: Not sure what you mean by kill hungry bacteria. The triple treatment for H Pylori usually is at least 90% effective

Yes: I see no reason to alter your training for an ear infection.

have lost weight from diarrhea caused from augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate). on lomitil 1x day. not as watery. not really hungry. any suggestions what to eat.?

Probiotics. : Align or biogaia. Both have a probiotics that can help.  This is the same stuff you hear about in the activia commercials. 
Align is easier to find at health food stores. 
Biogaia might be in a walgreen's or a walmart. Or you can look on line and order it but that  may take too long. If all else fails buy some activia and eat at least 1 cup with each meal for 2-3 days.  Good luck.
