Not just hemorrhoids: Are you sure you have just hemorrhoids? Bleeding from the rectum that recurs may also indicate anal fissures, proctitis (due to infection, inflammatory bowel disease, radiation therapy, stercoral ulcers, rectal prolapse, trauma, etc.) or a bleeding source further upstream. Depending on your age, risk factors, current medication (aspirin, nsaid's, anticoagulants can cause bleeding), get evaluated.

almost 2 weeks on lithium & i feel good. i prolly could use an lil more but i am constipation!  i started colace (docusate sodium). is that a side effect to lithium :|?

No: Your constipation is coming from your iron supplement. If it is persistent i would also have a thyroid level checked because hypothyroidism can cause constipation. Hypothyroidism is also a potential side effect of lithium but usually after long-term use. About 25% of people who use lithium will eventually develop hypothyroidism. I hope this helps. Best wishes.

No: It lowers the surface tension of water allowing water to stick to other things, so it softens stools by increasing the amount of water in the stool.
It is also used in soaps and shampoos to allow the soap and water to breakdown the oils on the skin and hair.  It is also used in pesticides to allow the pesticide to stick to plants and bugs.

Usually ok: Generally, the two constipation medications and azithromycin should be ok taken separately or taken together. If worried about stomach symptoms, one can take them separately, which is easy to do as azithromycin is a once-a-day drug. That said, some people get gurgly tummies and loose stools on azithromycin... and won't need laxatives on azithromycin days. Time will tell.

can i take a spoon full of mom if i had my appendix removed last saturday i haven't went to restroom i am taking colace (docusate sodium) but its not helping yet?

Yes: Its ok to use milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide). Also, be sure to drink plenty of liquids to avoid dehydration. If you're continuing to have trouble, call your surgeon's office for more advice. You'll be ok, sometimes it just takes time. Hope this helps!

i asked my dr. about taking colace (docusate sodium) daily and he said the only problem is it stains the colon. is this a big deal? i give it to my 16 yr. old daily.

Why??: Is she constipated? That is the reason to take it. It helps loosen your stool. If she is constipated the first thing to think about is her diet. The foods that cause constipation are: rice, oatmeal, barley, milk, bananas. First thing is to eliminate those from diet for a week or two. See what happens to her stool and proceed from there.
