No: I'm assuming some type of opiate withdrawal? But no they can't against the law. Not likely to be effective anyway. Suboxone and subutex are only approved meds at this time to be used in doctors office and doctor needs training and special license to do this.

Not a good idea: I wouldn't prescribe narcotics for chronic knee pain in a 33 year old either. There are too many other good options. See a rheumatologist.

See physician: I would see a physician and establish care. At that time, your diagnosis and treatment will be reviewed. If that physician feels comfortable prescribing that medication, he/she will. If they do not, or they think you would benefit from a pain specialist, they will refer you to one. As far as finding a physician, you can ask you insurance company to see who is in your network.

Depends: on whether they are testing for it. Some test kits that doctors use test for all commonly used opioids (like methadone, demerol, (meperidine hydrochloride) buprenorphine - the opiate in suboxone) and others do not. But if you are saying you are on suboxone, it is because you are an opiate abuser. If that is the case, you should NOT be using vicodin, and you are playing games with your treatment. Get serious and STOP!

I : I assume that you are on a pain contract.  I recommend that you be frank with your doctor about what has occurred.  If your doctor was to receive a urine drug screen result back that shows you have used controlled medications that he or she did not prescribe for you, that is likely to be problematic. A lot of  this has to do with trust. At least if your doctor has some idea what  is going on, the doctor will have more information to go on when making a determination as to whether you violated a pain contract and the possible consequences. If the doctor has no idea why the test is positive then the doctor views this with an information vacuum.  Your doctor puts their medical license out there when they treat you, you owe your medical provider honesty. Take care.
