i have a discoloration near my ankle. it has a different texture than the rest of the skin. i've had it for a few years now. what could it be?

Stasis: Stasis dermatitis typically affects middle-aged and elderly patients, rarely occurring before the fifth decade of life. An exception would be patients with acquired venous insufficiency due to surgery, trauma, or thrombosis.  See your local dermatologist for treatment.

ankles and calves have brownish freckle like discoloration. on occasion i will also get large o shaped or c shaped spots along with swelling. the red spots are hot to touch and sometimes the skin will become flakey or peel when the spots begin to go away.

You may have: a condition known as "Venous Stasis Dermatitis" Have you had many children??? Do your legs swell???? You need to check this out...first with your PCP (Primary Care Provider)

i have varicose veins and brawny skin discoloration near my right ankle.what are various ways to relieve, eliminate, and prevent it to get worse?

Stockings: medical grade compression stockings (15-20 mm Hg or higher) will help with symptoms but to eliminate the veins you need to see a phlebologist or vascular surgeon.  you need a venous ultrasound to see if you have saphenous vein insufficiency  and if so get it treated with a procedure called ELAS.  Google it but it is very straight forward

i had cellulitis back in august 2019. since then my leg the area that was effected has turned reddish purple a discoloration. what can i do to fix this? i want my skin to go back to normal?

: Not uncommon to get lymphedema of a leg after a bout of cellulitis, especially if you’re overweight. May need to see a vein specialist for Dx, Rx

Would need more info: Skin discoloration can vary from something not to worry about like a suntan to something life threatening like gangrene.  More info is needed about - where the skin is discolored, when did it happen, how long has it been like that, was there any injury, what color is it, is there some pain or temperature difference - to begin answering.

Accepted Answer

It can be: If you had an extensive enough injury, yes.  If it is still painful see a podiatrist.  Sometimes persistent swelling and pain might indicate a more serious or additional injury. Bruises fade in time and usually without event.

i put an ice pack directly on my skin and now i have three large discoloration areas on my leg. what can i do to get rid of this?

Time: Ice applied directly to the skin can damage it. In time the skin cells should be replaced by your body and the discoloration should fade. If it does not you may need to see a dermatologist

my son is experiencing  a round rusty orange skin discoloration on his foot. the size of a pencil eraser. just noticed, so it's probably new. ?

Skin: Send a photo. Did he step on a nail recently? Where is it located exactly? Any other skin changes, fevers?

i noticed 2 very tiny dots of whiteish discoloration, one on my foot and one on top my leg.. is that an indication of vitiligo developing? i am brown skin?

Accepted Answer

: It could be  a few entities including the beginnings of vitiligo, but it might result from specific trauma to your skin via an insect bite or irritation. This is known as post inflammatory hypopigmentation. See your dermatologist to confirm and possibly treat.

what causes skin to turn dark around the ankles?

Venous : Insufficiency could do this. The hemosiderin leaks out from the blood and stains the skin.
