Vaginitis: If besides the discharge you are having vagina irritation,itching, it could be yeast infection. Usually a bacterial infection is associated with fishy odor. If you are also experiencing pelvic pain then it is time to be seen by your GYN provider sooner than later.

i am having a light period, except the blood is almost like a watery discharge. it smells sweet and almost stale. could i be pregnant?

Take a test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.  If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection.

Discharge: Your discharge is normal. The brownish discharge is due old unoxygenated blood. The sweet smell is due to the normal acidity of the vagina.

Old blood: Brown discharge after a period is just old blood that has been sitting at the back of the vagina. Once blood degrades it turns brown and then black. The vaginal odor will need to be evaluated by examination.

Yeast: "Sounds like" a yeast infection. See your Gynecologist for treatment especially if you are sexually active since other STD's may present this way

Need more info: Have you had a period since you had the baby? Are you breastfeeding? If you haven't had a period, maybe you are ovulating and in two weeks you will have a period. If you have had this discharge since having the baby, and it is getting less and less, then it's part of normal post partum discharge. Talk to your doctor for more evaluation if worried.
