Slow bowel movement: You may have obstipation or constipation. I would be helpful to know what medicines you are on. Would also suggest an abdominal flat plate xray to evaluate stool content. I would suggest a full consult with evaluation of your diet and medicines.

take digestive enzymes (unprescribed) to ease my bloating and help with digestion. its helped a great deal, but can i take it with a meal before taking a prescription medication (antidepressant). does it affect how its absorbed at all? thank you?

: The digestive enzymes should not change the antidepressant absorption. If you have doubt, just take the antidepressant at least 2 hours apart from the supplement.

Illicit drug use: causes changes in many bodily functions that are deleterious to life.  I would recommend stopping ALL DRUG USE immediately and give your body some time to normalize.  Our bodies have a remarkable capacity to heal themselves if you don't interfere.  I think you will agree if you follow this advice.

Diet modification: Try modifying your diet by eating more fiber in your diet in the form of fruits and vegetables. Also eat high fiber complex grain cereals. In addition cut down on milk and milk products.

: Entities like irritable bowel syndrome, lactose or gluten intolerance come to mind. Try an elimination diet of dairy foods for a week.  If no improvement, try omitting gluten. Avoid gassy foods and beverages. Taking simethicone 1/2 hour after a meal prevents gas build up. Consult a gastroenterologist as needed.

Stress can....: ... Increase stomach acid, leading to heartburn (gastric reflux); cause nausea or vomiting if severe; cause diarrhea or constipation, or both.  Stress increases the "fight or flight" sympathetic nervous system and suppresses the parasympathetic system.  Digestion requires the opposite for best functioning.
