You cannot take diet pills with an overactive thyroid gland, people with this problem are thin, are you confusing low thyroid( hypothyroid) with overactive thyroid. If you thyroid is overactive the TSH would be less than 0.5 may be 0.1, check it out
the Depo-Provera shot retains water but does not make you gain more than a 2 lbs.
Diet pills are certainly not the answer.

Yes,  but while raspberry ketones are touted as a miracle weight loss supplement ; some animal studies suggest it might help, there have been absolutely no human studies to show if it really helps. If your thyroid is truly underactive then your dr. Will probably recommend thyroid replacement and that may help with your weight. I have had little to no success with other diet pills and recommend lifestyle changes instead with exercise and dietary changes. Good luck with your weight loss.

There are no diet pills to treat overactive thyroid. Usually, when the thyroid is overactive, an anti-thyroid medication is used to slow down thyroid function. Although some physicians add levothyroxine once thyroid hormone levels are well controlled, most endocrinologist would wean teh anti-thyroid drug to a small dose before adding levothyroxine. Discuss with your doctor.

I've had thyroid cancer 2 years ago, i take the name brand synthroid (thyroxine). is it okay for me to take diet pills?

Most thyroid cancers do well after surgery if nodes were neg. and age at surgery under 40.  If all is well after surgery which removes a major part if not all of the thyroid, there is a tendency to have low levels of thyroxin requiring oral supplements and patients tend to put on wt.  Taking diet pills may even be helpful if there was a significant wt. increase post surgery.
