diarrhea before period? i'm supposed to be getting my period in one of these days, but i was wondering if it's normal to have diarrhea before my monthly comes?

: A woman does not normally have diarrhea prior to each period. If a trusted gastroenterologist fails to rule out a bowel condition,
I would wonder about endometriosis involving the bowel mucosa.  For the latter condition, one must see a board-certified and trusted ob-gyn.

Not abnormal: The exact reasons why diarrhea occurs during your period aren't fully understood, but it is quite common and often tied to menstrual cramps. Believed to be at the root of the cause are prostaglandins, chemicals released during your period that allow the uterus, and thus the intestines, to contract.

Your symptoms: are completely normal in people with pre-menstrual tension....sometimes a couple of months of hormonal cycling can help...as may the use of mild DIURETICS during the week before your period! Discuss with your Family Physician or GYN

Coffee and diarrhea: Coffee is a cathartic and does cause bowel movement. may worsening   premenstrual  diarrhea.  Nausea can be the same but check for GERD ,see if ranitidine helps .

Endometriosis: If you are getting abdominal cramps and diarrhea, irregular bleeding could be related to endometriosis. Ultrasound of the abdomen is helpful.

Go to Hospital: When you are having loose stools and cramping in pregnancy, it is important to make sure that your baby is Ok and that you are not dilating. Watch for baby movements and go right away to the hospital birthing center. All will be well. It is better to be safe.
