Minimize use following the label directions. If a cough persists, see a doctor.

Different: These two narcotic cough suppressants have different opiate suppressants- Novasus has hydrocodone and CherraTussin has codeine. Novasus has chorpheniramine, an anti-histamine, while CherraTussin has guaifenesin, a cough suppressant. So these two cough syrups work in totally different ways

No: Robitussin (guaifenesin) is Guaifenesin which thins the mucous and may help with a cough, the dm part is detromethorphan which is a cough suppressant.
