Doubt it: I see nothing in this common product that would kill lice unless it suffocated them accidentally. Since lice can go without air for 18 hours I find that unlikely. Lice are resistant to some of the OTC products in the US, but there are several that remain effective.

Vinegar wash: If you use vinegar (regular, apple cider vinegar or pickling vinegar)as a hair rinse it will soften the glue that holds the nit to the hair & it will separate easier from the shaft.A fine tooth nit come is helpful for this process. It can be repeated daily for a week & may kill active bugs too.

Remedies: Natural remedies for lice include the application of olive oil, mineral oil or mayonnaise to the head/ hair. These oil-based products smother the louse. However, there is no research to demonstrate treatment efficacy.

That plan is not : Likely to work. Tx of lice 
requires accurate identification of nits ; / or lice. A pediculicide is usually used- otc like nix (permethrin) or rid or prescription meds like lindane or malathion. Work carefully through hair ; remove individual nits. Purchase a special lice nit comb to aid you. Check for nits ; remove as seen over the next 7 to 10 days. If there are nits after 7 to 10 days – a 2nd pediculicide.

No: No product or method destoys all of the eggs and hatched lice with single treatment. There are treatments which include chemicals, natural products, combs, shaving, hot air, and silicone-based lotions. All effective treatments require a two-fold process of killing both the adult lice and the eggs. Generally the eggs (nits) need to be manually picked off 1 by 1 in order to ensure all are removed.

Lice: You are the second person to ask this question, so apparently there is information out there that i did not know concerning coconut oil and lice. As i said to previous patient, it wont hurt to try, but lice is very contagious so dont try too long before getting rid.
