Not accurately.: Decadron (dexamethasone) is a pawerful anti-inflammatory steroid, which has a half-life of about 36 hours, which means on day 4, you have the equivalent of 2 mg of Decadron (dexamethasone) in your body, which is enough to decrease skin testing. Serum testing is also innaccurate at this point, will need to wait another 2 weeks for skin testing, up to 6 weeks for blood testing.

19mo old given decadron (dexamethasone) 3 day in er for amox allergy. hives return in extreme next day. prescibed prednisdone 3 oral doses.  we are on day 7 of hives can i just continue w/benedrayl vs more steroids?

Alcohol: Should not be a major problem. You don't say why you are taking these meds, but alcohol can inhibit WBCs in their functioning and theoretically at least may reduce resistance to infection. Doubt that this will affect you adversely even with the steroid intake.

Possibly but unclear: This could be related to the Decadron (dexamethasone) but we don't usually see this. You need to discuss this with your physician. There  may be another reason  including the reason you were given the decadron (dexamethasone).

Croup: Croup is a viral infection caused by parainfluenza virus.  There is no antibiotics for croup, but rather airway management.  If croup is more severe, decadron (dexamethasone) either by injection or by mouth is the standard of care since it has lasting effects for generally 48-72 hours and no additional medication is needed.

Decadron (dexamethasone) how.: I assume you are being treated with an oral Decadron (dexamethasone) product.  But even so I am not aware of any relationship between eating and flushing from steroids.  That is not to say that steroids can not result in some flushing symptoms but I am not aware of a relationship to eating unless the food is one that might cause flushing and the steroids exacerbate the phenomenon.

Yes: As long as they are medically necessary.

No: If you swallow the whole thing, you may end up with side effects from the cortisone. The small amounts you are swallowing is not likely to cause problem.

Accepted Answer

Steroid side effect: Hopefully only a couple of days maximum. If the symptoms progress or you have persistence, i would recommend seeing your doctor.
