Day 5 allows transfer of fewer embryos (less risk of multiples) while keeping rates at the sam level. Varies: Assuming a good office and a good embryo and a normal uterus, if it is a routine embryo then pregnancy rate is about 40-45% and if it had genetic testing and proven to be normal 50-60%

i am in the process of trying to become a surrogate and had the embryo transfer this past wednesday. 2/8. i noticed cold sores on my lip this morning and took 1 500 mg of valacyclovir. will this impact the transfer/success at all?

: There are no known adverse effects from valacyclovir during pregnancy and no reason to think the transfer would be affected. However, your various providers should be informed of when and how you take any medication.

Definitely!: You don't give much about your et, but if they are from the same egg-retrieval, embryos definitely grow at different rates. A 2-cell is likely lagging behind if the 6-cell is developing normally. Are these from a frozen transfer? Normal embryos can lose cells from freezing and thawing in some cases. Good luck.

Day 5: If they were frozen on d5, then thawed and transferred without spending additi90nal time in media they are considered d5. You should always consult your ivf doctor for specifics, since he/she knows your case better than we do.  Embryos are sometimes graded 1, 2, 3..., sometimes a, b, c, but sounds like you have a great bunch...Best of luck!

Wait and see: In a few days you are likely to have been instructed to return for a BHCG test to determine if the embryo transfer was a success. Only then will you know the result. It is hard to wait.

1-2 wk: by bloodwork would be pretty reliable. Otherwise, while 1-2 wk possible with the OTC tests... more reliable by 3-4 wk to believe a negative.
