what would cause a dark spot in my center of vision while turning head quickly? i've had a new onset of floaters a month ago. right eye muscle strain, and my eyes are now struggling to focus on objects. i have possible intercranial hypertension?

: On occasion, pseudotumor cerebri can cause visual obscuration episodes and this may correlate with your situation.  But it would be of great value to seek ophthalmological consultation if this has not already been done.

Watch and wait: Once episode of flash is not a cause for concern. Should it recur, it would be prudent to see an ophthalmologist.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.  Drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless.
Practice safe sex.

Amsler gird : There is a gird with central black dot that is called amsler grid.  You can down load an app, search online or ask you doc for it.  You test one eye at a time look straight at the center dot and make sure you can see all the grid lines surrounding of it.  You can also tell while you are reading if you are missing letters or word from the line.

Yes: Central scotoma can be caused by a number of conditions, multiple sclerosis, glaucoma, vascular events in the eye  raised intracranial pressure etc.

: What you have seen are probably floaters which are more common in people with nearsightedness (myopia). Floaters alone are usually benign, more serious if there is lightning or impaired peripheral vision. Because the condition seems worse it is prudent to have your eyes checked by an ophthalmologist. Normal: The peripheral retina which has more rods than cones does see better in the dark.  The cones which inhabit the central retina need lights of light to work well.  Rods work better in low light.

: I've heard some people who have intraocular lens inserted with cataract surgery mention this, but this wouldn't apply to you. I'm concerned enough to recommend that you have a careful eye examination by your ophthalmologist to exclude retinal pathology although you may simply have harmless floaters.

Macular degeneration: Central vision deterioration or macular degeneration is the most common cause of blindness in the United States.  It is usually associated with second hand cigarette smoke  There are also genetic diseases such as Leber's Dystrophy and Myopic Macular degeneration or deterioration that can lead to central vision loss.  It's imperative that you see an ophthalmologist, preferably a retina specialist.

Ocular Migraine: These are called scintillating schotomas- part of the ocular migraine or ophthalmic (also called ocular) migraine.  Patients have spasms of the arteries at supply the eye and get these symptoms. Temporary loss of blood flow causes temporary sight loss.  If it persists or interferes with daily activities then go to your primary care doctor for an exam and treatment.
