Doctor can evaluate: It's hard to describe in words and visualize what the issue is when it comes to colors and bumps. One's primary care doctor can examine and usually easily figure out the issue. A teen can see her pediatrician or family medicine doctor. Not sure what one means by "every grunt is normal," but it sounds reassuring.

Asymmetry is common.: The amount of breast tissue a woman has is genetically determined. This includes areola size. Most parts of your body are not symmetric and identically sized, including breasts, and there is nothing "abnormal" about one nipple, areola, or entire breast somewhat larger or smaller than the other. If this is a new change for  you, however, it's best to be evaluated by your doctor.

Hello. : Hello.   Areolas often become stretched out during pregnancy or breast feeding.  Even without pregnancy, the areola is subject to changes over time.  Things which can impact the areola include hormonal changes, birth control pills, aging,  and some medications.  However, if your skin is puckering inward or an underlying mass is palpated, that needs to be evaluated expeditiously.

Show it to your doct: It could be skin infection. But if it is persistent beyond one month, then an examination by a doctor is important to make sure that you do not have paget's disease of the nipple.
