No, and No: cromolyn will not end probability of anaphylaxis, and if it happens needs to be treated, ITP isn't part of the disease, yes a patient can have both as separate diseases, aggressive severe mastocytosis is a rare disease, much rare than systemic mastocytosis, which is already a rare disease, diagnosis  / management need to be in a tertiary care facility, need to adhere to treatment well &amp; follow up

Cromolyn antiquated: Cromolyn is a medication that was introduced in the usa in the mid 1970's. It was going to make allergic reactions obsolete. Instead the drug is increasingly difficult to obtain. There used to be a similar medication called nedocrimal (tilade) which is no longer available in the usa. In some people antihistamines and/or topical nasal steroids or inhaled steroids may be substitues.

They may be out if it's peak allergy season, or they may not have had much demand for it. If you ask, they can get it.

Lack of demand: Although its mode of action is different singulair (montelukast) is about as effective as cromolyn. It's also more convenient to use. Once this oral agent became available use of cromolyn & nedocromil, a closely-related agent, plummeted. There was no profit to be made in continuing production & so it became unavailable.

Rhinitis or asthma?: For allergic rhinitis good alternatives for cromolyn include the topical antihistamine sprays astelin, astepro, patanase, oral antihistamines like Allegra & Claritin & corticosteroid nasal sprays. For asthma low-dose inhaled corticosteroids like flovent, asmanex & Alvesco (ciclesonide) are excellent. Singulair, a leukotriene receptor antagonist, can also be useful. For a cure see an allergist for immunotherapy.
