my wife just discovered that she is pregnant & she keeps getting constant headaches. is a normal disprin pill safe for her to take?

Headaches: The constant headaches are a concern and warrant a check of her blood pressure. Also a neurological evaluation is recommended to determine the cause of her headaches. Dispirin is a low dose aspirin which wouldn't relieve headaches and is used to prevent blood clots in arteries. Her obstetrician should ok all medications or supplements that she wants to take.

Aspirin: Aspirin is a great anti-inflammatory and is useful for some types of headache. The problem is that aspirin is a potent blood thinner and can irritate the stomach and cause kidney problems. Doctors often prefer ibuprofen since it has excellent anti-inflammatory effects with a much lower blood thinning effect.

maybe: If you have had ulcers, problems with Aspirin and other anti-inflammatory meds (ibuprofen, naproxen, others), you should not use aspirin. Otherwise you could try it. The low dose may not be as effective as 'normal' doses, but may be worth a try.

Could be many things: Headaches can be tricky.  While most are not serious, occasionally a headache can be a sign of a serious problem.  Headaches that begin suddenly, are very different than any previous headache, are more severe than any previous headache, or are accompanied by other symptoms, should be evaluated by your doctor.

i checked my bp this a.m. it was 99 after i ate it was 110. i've had a headache since this morning, i took aspirin. what should i do?

Normal BP: Your BPs are normal for a 21 yo woman and require no attention. I know you wrote about headache yesterday. Is your headache primarily on 1 side?, pounding? associated with nausea? are you light sensitive? IF the answer to any is yes, ask your dr for migraine treatment. Meanwhile, try Acetaminophen 1,000 mg with your aspirin. Next time, try Ibuprofen 400-600 mg with food with/without acetaminophen.

It should be fine: As a young person, taking aspirin every day should be safe unless you are taking it in too great of doses. Aspirin is a blood thinner as well as a pain medication and can lead to easy bruising or uncontrollable bleeding. The greater question is why does a young person need aspirin every day for headaches. Please see your doctor.

See the doctor....: Headaches are sometimes very, very annoying...Especially when the "cure-all" one is used to take to alleviate the problem stops working.  Unfortunately a 'change' in the type of the headache; or its frequency should be evaluated by your physician!

Doubtful: If you have never had Aspirin before , it is highly unlikely that you would be allergic to it given how rare true aspirin allergy is. People with aspirin induced asthma may however react to it on the first exposure but that's more a biochemical reaction than an allergy.  But you have had a serious reaction to ASA in the past, then you must avoid it.

good day. need your assistance please. my 9 year old son is on neucon. he has severe headaches. please assist as panado, migril, disprin, and nurofen does not help. he has constance headaches. meds does not help with it. nothing brakes headaches.   ?

Temperature: Check his temperature and please see the Emergency department. There may be a neurologic condition leading to the severe pain. Please do not delay.
