my daughter is craving milk.  she drinks it almost continuously.  this is very unusual for her. she wakes up in the middle of the night to drink milk.

Can be a problem: Bovine milk is an easy source of calcium among other nutrients when used at any age over 1 yr. Unfortunately, some kids can overdue it to the point it becomes harmful."Milk cravers" can ingest it to the point they avoid other foods, but the excess can cause microscopic bleeding in the intestines and lead to severe anemia. You need to limit the kid to about 24 oz/day and go see her doc for testing.

im 18 weeks pregnant and have been craving vanilla milk. my husband has been making me a glass of milk with vanilla essence and honey every night. i just saw that there is alcohol in vanilla essence... will this harm the baby?

Vanilla extract ?'s: Vanilla extract in a glass of milk does not have a significant amount of alcohol in it to adversely affect your fetus.

Sugar: It is sugar and an addiction. Milk is very highly saturated with lactose....The same thing as sugar. It is a lot of calories. This is most likely a sugar addiction.

No worries...: We all get cravings once in a while - this is entirely normal.  Usually the cravings center around a tasty food (never seems to happen with broccoli)  having a craving for milk doesn't mean that you're deficient in calcium or some other important vitamin. Primary care follow: up is need for complete evaluation. I would recommend to see primary care provider to check your sugars (both spot and cumulative numbers), pregnancy test, and possibly some more based on family history, etc. they will be able to help figure this out. good luck!

Hyper metabolic : Your body appears to reacting to a lack of calories.  The craving and weight lost could be related. Body may be in a hyper metabolic state requiring increased calories and resulting in weight lost. Need to see a physician and a complete evaluation needs to be done. Possible symptoms of diabetes, over active thyroid and other metabolic conditions.

Milk craving: The saturated fats in milk may be responsible for your craving. A lack of calcium or vitamin d may be a cause.

Yes: Milk continues to be one of the best beverages for average consumption.  Not only does it contain healthy nutrients and vitamins, it also replaces the other beverages high in high fructose corn syrup. So by all means drink up. Obviously it's best to stick with the low fat variety.

i have been having excessive gas daily for three months. i have been eating like normal, but have been craving milk. could i be pregnant?

Not good predictors: Atlhough increased flatulence can occur with pregnancy - excessive gas is not a reliable indicator of pregnancy. Neither is craving milk. If you have been missing periods - the best thing to do is to take a pregnancy test.
