Bacteria: With the strain and increased intraluminal pressure during defecation, bacteria can trans-locate from the intestinal lumen to the blood and give the symptoms of  chills and rigors. This is transient bacteremia and clear by itself.

May be normal: Infants have poor abdominal tone and poop laying down (try it). They must use their breathing muscle to help generate pressure &amp; often fuss or seem to struggle. If it is soft when they go, it is not a problem. If hard, 1 oz of prune juice 1-3X/day helps.

Change diet.: A change in diet should help this.  You might not be having enough fiber.  Also try to keep your feet in slippers, etc. To keep them warm and stay active to avoid a circulation problem.

Bloody Stool: This is a true medical emergency. You need to be evaluated ASAP in the emergency department. Pooping straight blood means you likely have a source of bleeding in your upper gastrointestinal tract.

She might : Be coming down with stomach virus.Avoid milk products till stools are firmer.She can have soy or lactose free milk.Chicken broth are always good and follow the brat diet for now.May need anti-diarrheal medicine for comfort.If severe.Please consult your physician.

Could: Be a transit issue.  Spastic colon  ? Any history of constipation. Talk to your doctor about your symptoms.  There are some treatments available depending on the cause.  May need to see a GI specialist

38 wks pregnant: What you are describing can definitely be a contraction.  With how far along you are try to keep track of how often you are getting this sensation.  If it becomes regular and constant every few minutes it's time to head to the hospital to be checked.  Try to walk around as much as possible and you can take Tylenol (acetaminophen) to take the edge off if you get pain.
