It would be reasonable to treat with physical therapy and NSAIDs, and if you don't improve after that, then an MRI would be helpful to rule out any significant pathology.

Ouch: Cracked, broken, or bruised, any football player will tell you, all rib injuries hurt! i would bet you bruised your rib, but even if it's broken/cracked, there isn't much to do but wait.  If you are breathing ok, there is no emergency.  If not, see a doctor.  Okay to try local heat or ice.  Or a prescription for a Lidoderm patch (it's lidocaine.)  put over the area of pain, it can really help!
