Antihypertensive: This is an angiotensin receptor blocker used to treat blood pressure.  It has a beneficial effect upon the kidneys and can also be used in people who develop a cough on an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor.

Hypertension: One doesn't get dependent on these drugs per se but there may be up regulation of receptors with some of them. When you need drugs to control bp, the pressure will rise if off the drugs.

Unlikely. : Their effectiveness is essentially all the same. It might be that the generic medicine is not as effective though the FDA assures us they are very strict with quality control.
