Asthma?: Prednisone will relieve airway inflammation in a flare of asthma.  Sometimes even in patients without a diagnosis of asthma, wheezing can develop as a result of bronchitis, and prednisone can help ease breathing in this context.  It will not treat the underlying cause of a respiratory infection which is usually a virus, and only time, rest and proper support/self-care treats viral bronchitis.

22 year old son has had a cough post nasal drip and congestion for months. is our first trip to an ent or allergist?

Depends: if his symptoms responded to antihistamines like Zyrtec or Claritin (loratadine) I'd say allergist. If not, then ENT. Or you could go to an ENT that is certified in allergy treatment.

None available: A cough in a small infant is an important way they clear mucous. We do not use cough meds at that young age. The saline can help remove irritants that increase coughing, and a vaporizer can help.

Respiratory evaluati: You may have acquired a respiratory illness during your trip. Your physician may test for influenza and Strep Please drink fluids,rest and treat fever.

Not an emergency: Emergency rooms or departments are for emergencies and what you are describing doesn't seem to be an emergency. Do you have any walk in centers where you live for an evaluation? That would be far more cost effective.

Medical care is...: Care is too expensive in the US, with or without insurance. Many people go bankrupt because of medical expenses. Doctor's offices usually need only a patient's identification (so that 2 people cannot pretend to be the same person, as that is absolutely dangerous). Most offices accept cash. Hospitals, labs, or x-ray places may need a credit card or a large cash deposit. ER's usually see everyone.

perfectly fine: Cheese as part of a balanced diet is ok and mexican cheese can fit into that diet.  Mexican cheese is a mixture of several cheeses according to a mexican formulation and most are made in the us and not imported from mexico.
