what other options does someone have who has hyperlipidemia but has statin intolerance? btw coq10 does nothing to help with the statin side-effects.

Accepted Answer

Hyperlipidemia: Other options include Zetia, (ezetimibe) Niacin,  yeast extracts, gemfibrozil, questran and probably a couple of older meds I've forgotten.  And of course diet and exercise.

No: Probably not, this is a naturally occuring substance.

Yes!!  : Yes it is well known that some people  have an atopic constitution (sometimes with past history of atopic phenomena like asthma, eczema, hay fever etc) these people are more likely to react to certain medications.

riboflavin or coq10 is better for migraines? side effects? and i read they can cause weight loss, is that true?

Both can work: Believe that coq-10 is more successful, but far more expensive, and you would likely need 300-400 mg twice daily..  Riboflavin a very cheap choice, but here you likely would need, 150-200 mg twice daily.  Not so sure either really "causes" weight loss, but both generally non-toxic and safe, and perhaps, in presence of your medical issues, pretty good choices.  Hope it works out.

why do i have these weird type rashes under my arms and all around my thighs that look like scratches from a cat. no side effects. what is this?

Marks: They may actually be stretch marks, those are very typical places for stretch marks and stretch marks can have varying appearances from person to person. Especially if they are not painful or itchy or very bothersome in a physical way, my guess is that's what they are. Best wishes.

Topiramate: The half life of topiramate is about 31 hours. It takes five half lives for the drug to be removed from your body. Thus, in 155 hours after stopping the medication the side effects should resolve.

plan b one step pill and hives related? i took the plan b pill 2 almost 3 weeks ago and i've started to get hives or rashes on my stomach, arms, legs, back and neck. it weird because i had no other side effects. but i was wondering if it could be related

The : The odds of you having an allergic reaction from a Plan B taken three weeks ago are highly unlikely. Even if this was the case, there is no treatment aside from over the counter Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for itching.  Consider other potential allergens like new products, lotions, or soaps.

is it ok to raise the dose of lamotrigine by 25 mg each week, given that 4 years ago (during my first trial of it), i was following the standard dose-raising practice (by 25 mg every 2 weeks) and never had any side effects let alone developed a rash?

Lamotrigine: Dosage schedule and escalation of dose is different when used in seizure disorders compared with bipolar disorder. Most general practitioners don't have enough experience with this medication and defer it's use to specialists who use it often. Don't make dosage decisions without supervision from the prescribing specialist. I'm sure your pharmacist will agree with this advice.

No: I suppose it is possible to have an allergic reaction with a rash but that would be very rare. Gi irreitation is by far the most common side effects. Bruising would not be common at all.
