hi, my doctor has me on the following medications, levothyroxine because i have no thyroid, clonzepam to help me sleep, atorvastatin 80mg. lisinopril10mg, diltiazem 180mg would these cause cramping in my legs and hands, i take coq10 cramping is worse?

: Atorvastatin is the most likely one of these medicines to cause cramping in your legs and hands. Taking CoQ10 average 200 mg a day can decrease the muscle cramps and aching from atorvastatin another statin trade medicines. Consult with your primary care physician before changing treatment.

Some people have: found that CoQ10 reduces the side effects associated with Statin use. There are no peer reviewed scientifically validated studies to support this claim however I have had patient's in whom they do notice a reduction in symptoms and side effects with its use. It can't really do any harm so I don't restrict them from continuing it.

Just: to be sure you understand that the evidence for the benefit of COQ10 in post CVA patients is lacking..the dose is 100mgm Ubiquinol daily!

Safe: Coq is fine to take alongside your other meds. It is really good for your heart.

A large number: There are a lot of OTC medications and herbal supplements can 'thin the blood'. Medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, Naprosyn, (naproxen) fish oil, all can have this effect.  Herbal supplements such as borage, ginko, garlic, ginger can also have some effect.  If you are on a prescription. Blood thinner, then discuss the use of OTC and herbal medications with your physician before taking anything new.

No: Probably not, this is a naturally occuring substance.

NOT: The data on the beneficial effects, especially the lipid lowering effects, of CoQ10 is weak. Moreover, there's no way to know if one formulation is superior to another since a head to head comparison has never been published. (if it is published, the research will be conducted by a drug company and will be biased!)
