Possible: Farty liver is a rare risk of BCPs. If you have fatty liver, you should not be taking OCPs. You need to discuss this with your PCP and GYN.

Possible: There has been some association between long term use of birth control and liver tumors found recently.  Talk with you gym and primary care about this.

No: Cod liver oil contains high levels of vitamin A and vitamin D. Is there a reason to believe that you are deficient in those?? Do you liv above the Arctic Circle?? Or work at the South Pole station?? Or do you have lupus where you really should have very limited sun exposure? Just eat a good varied diet and you should get more than enough A and D. And NO, it should not affect BCP absorption!

Possibly enlarge: a hepatic hemangioma, but a hemangioma is a collection of abnormal blood vessels and thought to be congenital but may grow under the influence of hormones.  Long term BCP have been associated with benign hepatic adenomas.  If birth control is still needed, then estrogen free methods would be appropriate.

Well : Avoiding fatty foods and drinking plenty of Healthy fluids like water will decrease someone’s risk of gallstones and kidney stones.Healthy diet avoiding processed foods in excess amounts of red meat also will help decrease the risk of kidney and liver disorders. Recommend you Google DASH  diet this is generally a healthy diet for maintaining weight and overall health majority of people

Try one: The liver has a really good ability to recover from illness. If your liver function tests are normal now, see you physician and try one pill with close observation of liver function blood test results.

Possible low risk: Contraceptives are known to cause benign ' adenomas ' which may can cause liver bleeding . There may be slight increase of incidence of liver cancer for those who are on contraceptives for 5 or more yeas . Estrogens known to inhibit bilirubin and bile acid production which may be the cause . If you are concerned see your doctor for other  alternative method of birth control .

is a mild heterogeneous liver something to be concerned about? i just had a ct scan. ive been on hormonal birth control pills for 20 years. could that be a long term effect from birth control? i eat very healthy and hardly drink alcohol?

Need more info: All imaging results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests.

The 3 P's: Pain, prolonged menses and 'juggled pills indicated the need to see your ob-gyn md for assessment. There are many causes for your symptoms that need sorting out.

No: Birth control pills block ovulation only - you should feel no movement in your abdomen as a result of taking the pill.
