Months: It sometimes takes months for periods to settle down after coming off oral contraceptives.  I note that you are 36 years old.  I suggest seeing your ob-gyn.  An ultrasound of your uterus could be done to measure something called the "endometrial stripe" to see if it is too thick.  If so, it could be shed by using a medication like Progesterone to cause it to slough off and return to normal.

Can take few months: If you're coming off the pill and not transitioning onto another form of hormonal birth control, it's possible to have some kind of spotting or irregular bleeding for several months after stopping before your body gets back to it's normal cycle. It does differ from person to person though.

Yes: Since coming off the pill allows you to ovulate again, you may have mid cycle pain or cramping.

Yes: There is a condition known as post-pill amenorrhea. It is a delay in the return of menstrual periods after stopping birth control pills and can last up to 1 year. Once periods resume after pills they tend to go back to the pattern you had prior to starting the pill. If your periods were regular they are again regular and if they were irregular they are again irregular. Hope this helps.

Fainting: If you have lost consciousness you should be seen by a doctor and evaluated.  There are many potentially serious causes and these need to be excluded. Birth control pills are an unlikely primary cause but other complications of the pills can result in this (i.e., pulmonary embolism from thrombophlebitis, etc.). Brown means light: Periods change after stopping birth control pills.  Brown discharge means the bleeding is light.  Keep track of the days of bleeding, and since this is a change for you, a checkup would be a good idea.

Post pill : Most women will resume their natural cycle within 6 months of stopping their pills. You are now at risk of pregnancy. If you don't want to become pregnant call you doc and refill your prescription

IUD: Progesterone iud's are reported as weight neutral in the literature. They are an extremely effective form of birth control and can decrease menstrual flow.

Not unusual: Post pill amenorrhea is not common and may last up to 6 months.  It can also reflect a return to menstrual patterns (irregular periods) that may have existed before starting oral contraceptive pills.  Talk to your doctor about how to start your menstruation if the condition persists.

i have pcos, for 6 years after coming off the pill.  for 3 years now my period is regular.  but my pcos cysts is causing daily pain, so my doctor is putting me back on the pill. a good idea? and why?

Ovary Suppression: Assuming that the pain is from cysts, the bcp works by suppression follicle (cyst) formation. It might help with cysts. Pco cysts usually are very small and not a source of pain, so perhaps the pco is not the issue. Best wishes.
