Probable infection: If you have a significantly sore throat w swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see your medical provider ; get a strep throat test ; culture. Saltwater gargles are helpful. Mix a tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle w this several times/day. You can gargle w aloe vera juice a couple of times per day. A mix of chamomile tea w honey ; a small amount of lemon juice is good.

I'm glad you don't want any real cigarettes, but smoking anything is not a good idea.

No, ENT Dr can check: People normally do not have frequent sore throats with the taste of blood. A primary care or an ENT doctor can check for causes. Maybe there is some infection/inflammation in the sinuses that occasionally is oozing some blood. Maybe there is a spot in the throat that is friable (scratches or damages easily such as after swallowing cookies or crackers). Ent doctors can see with a fiber-optic scope.

Topical treatment: salt water gargles or sore throat lozenges.  take motrin or tylenol (acetaminophen) as directed.  drink plenty of cold liquids.  if throat is red or you see any white spots, have enlarged glands, or have a fever you need to see a doctor.  also see one if pain lasts more than 2 days.

Depends on what's: Causing your "ache".  If it's Group A Streptococcus bacteria, then antibiotics are warrented.  If it's acid reflux related then you have to address your acid reflux.  It may very well be related to any number of viruses too.  If it's bothersome consider seeing your doctor.  Otherwise you can utilize salt water gargles and soothing beverages like tea with honey.

If it is strep, you will need a prescription for an antibiotic.  In the meantime there are lots of soothing otc lozenges for relief of pain.  Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin also help with the pain.

It depends: Many sore throats are viral and will go away without treatment.  Gargle with warm salt water several times a day and eat ice cream or drink cold drinks for comfort.  You can find some lozenges that will numb the throat but they will also numb the tongue, which some people don't like.  If you also have a fever, headache,  bad breath, or swollen glands in your neck, you should be checked.
