? regular cheek ups: Most likely they found in situ  or early non spreading cancer, and good you got your colon removed. Ileorectal anastomosis will give frequent loose bm s initialy and body adapts eventually . You will be fine make sure to see your doctors.

Tough one!: There is an ileorectal anastomosis - when the colon is removed we can attach the ileum - part of the end of the small intestine - to the rectum.  There is also an ileosigmoid anastomosis - when the ileum is attached to the sigmoid colon.
Often the area is called the rectosigmoid region so this leads to the confusion.  There is no ileorectal sigmoid anastomosis.

Yes: This type of surgery which includes removal of all the colon and then an ileo-rectal pouch anastomosi is used for complicated ulcerative colitis, with complications that can be bleeding, transformation to pre-cancerous changes, or pain and fevers with failure of medications. It can be a very successful surgery with very good results, as long as  the surgery is performed by a specialist in this.

Colectomy: It refers to taking out most of the colon or large bowel to the sigmoid and attaching the end of the small bowel to the sigmoid colon

Recently?: No bowel movements or any pain and bloating are a good reason to give your primary doctor or surgeon a call.

Accepted Answer

Yes: It depends on the reconstruction.  If you have a j pouch and the contents are moving through rapidly and you have not adapted, a patient may have many stools per day and the area around the anus may be raw.  Local treament with creams to the area are helpful.  If it remains, your doctor can add things to thicken the stool or medicine to slow it done until you adapt. Good luck.
