Yes: Celexa (Citalopram) is a safe medication.  It has been used for many years.  There have been recent publication regarding prolonged Q-T which seem to indicate this is a rare problem.

More information: Much more information is necessary to be able to answer your question.  1) do you need the celexa (citalopram)?  2) is there a history of any ventricular arrhythmia or possible ventricular arrhythmia?  For instance, have you ever had syncope (fainting)? 3) is there a family history of sudden cardiac death? 4) do they think you have long qt syndrome, or just a long qt interval on an ecg? Good luck.

Talk to doctor: Celexa is safe and effective at usual therapeutic doses.
The concerns you are referring to are in the 80mgs daily dose range, in patients with pre-existing cardiac conduction abnormalities. If you do find out that you need higher doses to achieve the benefit you are seeking, you may want to discuss switching to Lexapro (escitalopram).
As for TD, I have never had a patient develop that on an antidepressant.

QT: Not aware of studies on the combination. Periodic ECG to see what the qt is when doses are altered may be a good idea.

Yes.: There have been reports of Celexa (citalopram) causing a prolonged qt interval at doses of 40 mg/day or higher. You should discuss your concerns with your physician, if you think you may be experiencing cardiac symptoms. He or she can do a further eval and workup. Make sure you  mention all the meds and supplements you are taking.

Low Risk: Unless you have been diagnosed with torsade de pointes, an abnormal heart rhythm, or have low levels of potassium and magnesium, Celexa (citalopram) does not present a significant risk. Benefits of med. Outweigh risks. But best you check with your doctor to alleviate anxiety.
