Avoid Nyquil/Dayquil: May risk interaction. Choose a cold product containing chlorpheniramine (antihistamine) and phenylephrine (decongestant). Drink fluids, inhale steam, blow nose carefully and frequently, use saline nasal spray, stay warm and rested, gargle with warm salt water, drink hot liquids (tea and honey very good), take steamy shower, prop head with extra pillow for sleep. Brst regards for relief.

According to the world health organization, dextromethorphan can be psychologically addictive, but is not physically addictive. Talk with OB but no: Dayquil contains acetaminophen, dextromethorphan, pseudoephedrine. Acetaminophen (tylenol) is ok but the other two are class c which most OB do not allow. Use nasal saline.
Class c: studies on animals show adverse effect and toxicity on fetus. No adequate and well controlled studies done on pregnant women. Drugs should be given only if potential benefit outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
