Normal: Actually if you have a normal cervix there will always be some cervical mucus. It increases around ovulation but that doesn't mean it goes away for the rest of the cycle. I wouldn't worry about it.

Heavy vaginal bldg.: Heavy menstual flow with clots can result from benign tumors of the womb, or irregular ovulation which results in heavy growth to the lining of the womb, producing clots when the lining is shed during menstruation. Consult your healthcare provider and get a pelvic sonogram and ask about a fluoroscopic test to see if your tubes might be blocked, causing infertility.

Unprotected: Since many young women don't ovulate regularly the answer is don't have unprotected sex unless you're prepared to get pregnant.  Doesn't matter if its in the shower, in a tub, in a car or a bed.  All the above may result in a pregnancy.  Probably time to use a condom and get on the birth control pill.

Very low chance: If a woman is consistently taking birth control pills (same time, each day) and has been doing fine on them for more than a month, she is protected against pregnancy every day. That protection doesn't change whether she is on the hormone pills or the inactive placebo pills. She doesn't need to worry much about pregnancy, regardless of when she is having sex, but she can still catch STD infections.

Polyp: Uterine cancer would be extremely unlikely in a 24 year old. I would return to the Obgyn who diagnosed you and ask what the next steps are. Uterine polyps can be removed fairly easily using a hysteroscope.
