Vocal cords: You probably overworked your vocal cords, nothing you can do, except give you voice a rest, talk as little as possible and do not whisper, they will recover in few days.

PROBABLY VIRAL URI: You probably have a viral upper respiratory infection and all you need is symptomatic treatment like you are doing, but if it does not get better or you develop other symptoms like high fever, cough with greenish yellow expectoration etc, than consult your doctor for check up.

Rest: Your best bet is rest and not using voice and speaking as little as possible. But anti inflammatories like Ibuprofen can help. If more serious then cortisone can help too. Drink cold fluids too. But if symptoms not improving see your doctor for sure.

Old fashioned: Warm salt water gargles are a good standby. 1 tsp salt and 8 oz warm water mixed up is a good basic soothing throat gargle. If the throat has been sore for more than a week, you should see a doctor to be sure there is not a more serious problem or infection that needs treatment.

Doctor can check: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can help decrease throat pain.

Not likely: Strep infection is usually a pharyngitis which may make it painful to speak but does not cause you to lose your voice.    Viral infections are much more likely to cause inflammation of the voice box - laryngitis.  They typically cause other upper respiratory symptoms as well - cough, runny / stuffy nose, plugged ears, body aches, etc.

Plugged: It could be fluid behind the ear drum, a cerumen impaction, or other things.  Have your doctor look in the ear and see why it is plugged.

Headache/fever: You should take your daughter to the doctor.  Depending how long this has been going on this could be viral or something more intense.  Also depending on how high is the fever, she maybe getting dehydrated which is why she looks thinner.  Get her checked out.
