Watch bowel habits: A tubular adenoma is benign and not likely hereditary.
Make sure there were no "adenomatous" polyps which are pre-malignant and can be associated with hereditary syndromes.
How did they find this in him- was he bleeding?
40 is young for routine colonoscopy, enless there wee symptoms, findings por family history.
Please provide more detailed history.

Colonoscopy: If you had polyps with moderate dysplasia, it is better to have it checked out the following year and probably until you get a negative colonoscopy. If the polyps are removed completely, colon cancer could be prevented.

Bleeding: Really, the only sign you would have would be some blood in the stool, but if it were a massively large adenoma, then you could have symptoms typical of bowel obstruction, such as bloating, cramping, and emesis.  I doubt this would occur. Good luck.

: Data show that some tubular Adelina’s in the duodenum, if not removed, may increase the risk of duodenal adenocarcinoma . The take away is that these tubular adenomas should be removed.

It is possible: One reason to repeat a colonoscopy 1-2 years after removal of an adenoma is to be sure it didn't grow back, and that nothing else was missed. If a repeat colonoscopy is negative, then perhaps you can wait longer. Speak to your gastroenterologist.
