my husband has a mass on the left side back below his rib cage that causes him pain it is solid and does not move, what could it possibly be?

A painful: mass in that location can be a number of things ...too many to outline here..this should be checked out by his Primary Care Provider!!  A PHYSICAL EXAMINATION is REQUIRED!

Not sure: This could be something to be concerned about it depends on how this presents and what the history of this mass is. Too little information for me to really give you an answer. I would recommend that you see your doctor and have this looked at to be sure.

Inclusion cyst: Most likely a lipoma, or an inclusion cyst. Go to your local surgeon to resect it and find out exactly what it is

Maybe: Depends on how long it has been there ; may be a fatty tumor or even a hernia  but would rec a md to look at it ; sometimes it can even be a floating rib , which is benign.

R/O LIPOMA: If the lump is on the rib cage and  movable it is less worisome and may be a lipoma. You need a Ultrasound ito evaluate for /CYST/LIPOMA/less likely clot    Please seek prompt evaluation for this issue if symptoms persist or worsen.  Or other lesions develop

Be seen : If you feel a mass, it is probably best to be seen and fully evaluated.  The most likely cause is a lipoma, which is completely benign, but without being seen you could have something more serious and not know it.  Safest thing would be to let someone take a look at it.

More information: Is the mass red? Warm to touch? How long has it been there?  You really need to have a doctor LOOK at it and get some more information about the nature of this mass. Make an appointment to see your physician asap .  Don't delay. It may be nothing, but the fact that it makes you hurt to take a deep breath, it can lead to other more problematic issues.

i have a 5x5 inch doughy feeling mass build up on my left rib cage just below my armpit. it moves easily , and is painless. right side is smaller?

Evaluation: Hi, that's possibly a fat mass, called lipoma but to be sure you need to see a doctor, if the mass is growing fast then you need evaluation and imaging ASAP. best of luck.
