Depends: If the area involved in the burn is small, the doc is unlikely to do more than you have already done. A cold compress (ice in a ziploc bag wrapped in a towel or chilled towel) can reduce the pain and be replaced as needed. If the whole process has spooked you or the kid a visit may help calm every bodies nerves.

Just a thought: but you could have a hiatus hernia (herniation of stomach into chest (above diaphragm) (old "popular" term ="upside down stomach" A simple chest xray (two views) could disclose this! Ask your PCP !
