Nodal ablation: In ablating cardiac dysrhythmias, the ablation catheters can sometimes affect the conduction to or from the atrio-venticular node (avn). This is an important regulator of heart rate and if affected the reslutant 'escape rhythm' may be too slow to accomadte normal activity; thus a pacemaker is required. In some conditions, like atrial fibrillation, the goal may be avn ablation and pacemaker implant.

my ep cardiologist told me that everyone who has an cardiac ablation will eventually end up with a pacemaker - could be in 2 months, 2 years or 20 years but its inevitable i cant seem to find any stats that support this one way or another?

Pacemaker: Ablation is relatively new.  There is no data to support that as it does not exist.

Great question!: Since you've already had an ablation, you already have an expert at your disposal to help answer this question - the same doctor who did your procedure.  He or she needs to know your symptoms in order to obtain any additional testing, which may well be an event monitor.  Call today!

Follow up Cardiology: I would advise being seen right away. You may have an inflammatory reaction, infection or a thrombus formation. IF you are having chest pain, please see the Emergency Department where the cardiac procedure was completed.

See your doctor!: Complications from cardiac ablation are rare but can include blood clots forming in the legs or lungs. This is called a PE, and could cause shortness of breath. It's also possible (depending on the approach used) to have a partial lung collapse. See your doctor to rule out any serious problem causing your shortness of breath.

NO: call your cardiologist ASAP. You did not mention how fast your heart rate is: normal rate is 60-100 bpm.

Yes, reasonably safe: Cardiac ablation is a procedure that cardiac electrophysiologist use to burn out some extra pathway where the heart's electrical current might initiate erratically. The physician needs to do cardiac mapping and find out where is the possible source of extra firing source of the electrical current.  Md then burn them out with freezing burn.  Under good hands it is relatively safe, 1% complication.

Nausea: The short answer is “yes”.  However, the causes  could be related to several things including medications administered to you during and after the procedure. You should contact the physician who perform the procedure.

Ablation: Ask the ep doc, for ablation in a patient with good cardiac function, fairly rapidly is possible but if the rhythm is a bit unstable after the procedure the ep might prefer the patient wait a variable period before resuming to let lesions heal.
