i have a rash on the corona of my penis and the head. i've been treating as a yeast infection i was just wondering what arevthe signs of the treatment working?

Rash goes away.: If the medicine works, the rash will go away, usually within 10 days.  If you have not seen any improvement  after three to five days, get seen by a doctor to be sure you do have a fungal infection.  There are other causes of rashes besides yeast. If you have had unprotected sex, get checked for std's.  Also, avoid scented products and harsh soaps/detergents/fabric softeners. Don't over-scrub.

See a doctor: Genital skin problems are quite common and there are too many possibilities to make even an educated guess. No STD is a likely cause of such a rash, but that's about all that can be said. See a doctor -- and avoid any self treatment before you are seen, which could make diagnosis more difficult.

: By your description, it could be either. If it is an area of open skin, you can put antibiotic ointment on it to prevent infection. If it is not open, then it should continue the healing process. If not, see a doctor, perhaps a dermatologist. Good luck!

Recurrent yeast: Presumably you mean genital or anal area yeast (Candida) infections (thrush), right? First, make sure the diagnosis is confirmed; othere conditions can mimic yeast. If confirmed, get tested for diabetes, a common trigger for yeast infections. Also speak with doctor about preventive treatment. Taking fluconazole by mouth once a week usually is effective in preventing recurrent yeast infections.

Hydrocortisone: Sometimes a few days of Hydrocortisone may reduce the inflammation while awaiting the anti-fungal cream to work.

Cannot diagnose: Without being able to see this rash it is impossible to accurately diagnose it.  Suggest you show this to a doctor and get treated appropriately. If it is candida and unresponsive to standard therapy you may want to check both your immune status and hiv. Good luck.
