Dry socket: Smoking is not a good thing to do any time, but if you are symptom free go ahead and have a smoke. Drinking alcohol and taking pain medication are never recommended as it might impair your respiratory drive. One or the other but not both. Any questions contact your dental surgeon.

Increased risk: Anything that can cause the blood clot to pull out of the socket can cause a dry socket. Any kind of negative pressure - vacuum- will do so. That's why smoking, spitting and drinking through a straw are to be avoided for at least 48 hours. Good Luck.

Not necessarily: You will not necessarily develop a dry socket if you smoke after extraction, but this is a terrible idea. You have bleeding tissue and you're exposing it to smoke and tar! it will definitely complicate your healing. Save money; stop smoking :).

Wait a bit longer: Most cases of dry socket occur on the lower jaw and happen 3 to 5 days after an extraction. It has only been 3 days so give it a few more if you can. This might actually be a good opportunity for you to quit if you are thinking about it. There really is no safe way to smoke cigarettes, even if you haven't had oral surgery.  However e-cigs may currently be the safest alternative.

It's possible: Dry sockets are essentially like losing the blood clot that is protecting the extraction site.  The socket itself is lined with nerves and if exposed, can hurt a lot!  if it was a big extraction and no closure was attained with sutures and you created a vacuum in your mouth through possibly smoking or even just spitting, you could have accidentally dislodged that blood clot.  Hope you feel better.

Yes, it's possible,: The usual time frame is 3  to 5 days after removal.  If you smoke, that increases the likelihood of a dry socket. I fyou had an stitches placed that reduces the possibility as does an clotting aids used at the time of surgery.

Yes: Almost a week (often said "5 days") is a typical risk period for dry socket. If your socket is large and open, and there is not much clotted blood, you are more likely to have dry socket. Smokers have higher chance of getting it also.

whn can  i resume my daily normal life , i got my 2 bottom wisdom teeth out on thursday march 18, tomorrow thursday is 7 days, im very cautious to what i do being that i dont want to get a dry socket or something else. i got dissolved stitches?

: Without pain or swelling, after seven days you've pretty much healed. Unless your oral surgeon provided you with specific instructions on activities to avoid I would think that you're good to go.

Blood clot: A dry socket is extremely painful. If little or no pain, you probably don't have a dry socket.
Don't hesitate to call your dentist or surgeon for post-op advice and a follow-up exam.
