It increases risk: Smoking will not give you stomach cancer directly, but it increases your risk of getting stomach cancer.  If you stop smoking, you will lower your risk.

Not very common: Stomach or gastric cancers have decreased in the US since the 1940's. There are some stomach cancers however associated with H. pylori stomach infections. Smoked foods, excess alcohol intake, and cigarette smoking may be associated with stomach cancer. It is more common in other countries than the US.

Lower SE status.: Apparently, there is higher risk in lower soceoeconomic (se)  status groups, and in those who eat smoked foods, and heavily salted foods.  Many people have ulcers, and helicobacter pylori infection.  Treatment of this infection can produce remission in 1/2 of patients who get malt (mucosa associated lymphoid tissue), and has dramatically reduced the incidence of this disease.

Many risks: Common causes and risk include high dietary use of salt-preserved and processed foods (as in japan), chronic infection with h. Pylori (stoamch ulcer causing bacteria), obesity, smoking, family history, pernicious anemia, and a hisory of gastric ulcers or gastric surgery.

Need more info.: The best physician to ask is the physician who performed the endoscopy test (inserted the flexible camera into your stomach).  Ct scan is often very inaccurate in locating stomach cancer.  Knowing the location is essential in determining what kind (if any) operation the patient might be eligible for.  I encourage you to call your gastroenterologist to discuss further.

Anything is: Possible, but unlikely in this case.  The only way to know for sure is endoscopy and biopsy.  Consult your doctor regarding specific cancer risk and advice regarding this procedure.

Surgery if possible: As with any cancer, if it's possible, take it out. If its, not surgically, removable, then start with an oncologist to get a comprehensive multidisciplinary plan to decide how to approach it.

Maybe: I'm sure you have been told it will take a full court press to lick this. Both surgery and chemotherapy. If this is you, you are young and should try and pursue all options. There are several excellent cancer hospital close to you, and a referral could be helpful if one hasn't been initiated.

Cannot: Cancer spreading is usually determined by biopsies at the tine of surgery. Some radiology tests could suggest concerns of spread such as ct scan or pet scan, but biopsies are the only way to tell definitively.
