Pregnant?: About the time that you might expect your next period, you could have just a small amount of bloody show for a couple of days. This could actually be implantation bleeding of a normal pregnancy. Take a home pregnancy test and perhaps follow up with your Family Doc for confirmation.

Endometriosis: Since you have had a scan i would assume you are being followed by a physician. Abnormal uterine bleeding and thickened endometrium can be caused by endometriosis. I would suggest following up with your physician at your earliest convenience.

U Have Options: Depends on cause of heavy bleeding. Need evaluation and sonogram. Non-surgical options include: birth control pills. Lysteda (non-hormonal rx taken during period), Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud. Minimally invasive options: endometrial ablation (in-office), hysteroscopy polyp removal or fibroid resection; and only if these treatments fail then consider hysterectomy - vaginal or laparoscopic if possible.

Dysmennorhea: Painful menstruating is not uncommon and occurs in many woman.  I would take your Dr. to a Gynecologist who specializes in pediatric patients so she can get a full evaluation.  There are also some good medication that can be prescribed for her to relieve the pains.  Best wishes.

Family practice : Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is usually used to slow down your bleeding not increase it. It may help regulate your period. Check with your dr.

That : That is abnormal.  Please be sure your pap smear is up to date and you may need an endometrial biopsy.  I am concerned also that you are 55 and still on the pill, please ask your doctor because oral contraception increases cardiovascular risk after age 50.  You could have fibroids causing your bleeding as well, your doctor can usually feel those on examination.  Please see your gynecologist for a complete evaluation.
