The : The procedure of egg donation is complex and involved. The process involves the following:
1. Synchronization of menstrual cycles for donor and mother using hormonal therapy. This is because ovulation and uterus pregnancy readiness of the mother must be in sync,

2. Daily injections to egg donor to prevent natural egg maturation of the egg donor by using gonadotropin-releasing agonists injections, given daily. This give the physician the ability to control maturation of eggs. So me women will experience side effects such as breast tenderness, abdominal swelling, hot flashes, mood swings and vaginal dryness. Also, bruising at the injection sites.

3. After hormone levels have been suppressed by the first class of drugs, the physician will prescribe another injection, follicle stimulating hormone, which promote multiple eggs to mature, allowing the physician to retrieve several mature eggs at a time. The donor will undergo pelvic ultrasounds to monitor the development of the eggs. Also donors should abstain from sexual intercourse to avoid an unwanted pregnancy.

4.When the eggs are mature enough for retrieval, the donor will undergo a surgical procedure called a transvaginal ultrasound aspiration. This procedure is minimally invasive, and the donor may opt to receive sedation. Talk to your doctor about possible complications associated with this procedure.

In summary, the risk to the donor is the side effects associated with hormonal therapy, injection site discomfort, abstinence  from sexual  intercourse and risks associated with the surgical 
procedure. Many women experience an emotional side effect as well, talk thoroughly with y our doctor about this decision.
