high dose verapamil (more than 240mg a day) for migraine? is this ever employed? my migraines aren't controlled well enough at 240mg.

Very common: The dose should be made on an individual basis, weighing the possible benefit of a higher dose with possible side effect risks. Giving someone more than a maximum of 480 mg per day is not recommended for any type of migraine.

can you get hooked faster with verapamil or vicodin?

Not the same: Verapamil is for hypertension and is not an opioid used for pain like vicodin.  There is no abuse or addiction potential with verapamil.

Verapamil: At your age you should not take verapamil!!
Please stop it for now and continue with Motrin as needed - not more than once a day.
If things are not getting better please see your doctor.

No: It doesn't cause high blood pressure. Be sure you're measuring the BP when you are at basal conditions: relaxed, not in pain (not having a headache), relaxed, resting for 10 minutes. Be sure your BP measurement device is accurate (check it against a standard).

Caution: Liver disease could cause a high GGT level. Caution is advised when taking verapamil in the presence of liver disease. Your doctor should guide you.

HIgh blood pressure: If your blood pressure is high on Lisinopril (l) and verapamil (v), you should discuss that problem with your physician (p). Perhaps the dose of l and v can be increased. Your physician knows you better than anyone else, so ask your p about the problem of your uncontrolled bp. Good luck.

Hypertension: It's not advisable to suddenly stop your bp medications as this may cause an abrupt rise in bp(hypertensive crisis) bringing on the above mentioned symptoms including the visual ones. Call your physician for instructions on getting your bp back under control, but go to the hospital emergency room if you can't reach him/her now as your symptoms are concerning.

i have always had normal bp, 116/70, on average. since starting verapamil, my bp got very high.  now my md has started me on lisinopril to lower my bp?

Hypertension management: Hypertension management

Agree with adding Lisinopril  along with amlodipine. Make sure your kidney function test to be check within 10 days. Lives in a pill can cause high potassium otherwise.

A few: Low heart rates, constipation and edema are some of the more common side effects.
