Yes: Anybody can have nodes. Your physician wants to biopsy them because hashimoto's puts you at extra risk for malignant lymphoma, and even if the nodes aren't that worrisome, he wants to cover himself and you.

Prob not: While shaving can cause minor cuts in the skin, and therefore theoretically increase risk of a skin infection, which could lead to some swollen lymph nodes, this is not common. (you should wash your face before shaving). If you're saying someone has multiple enlarged lymph nodes from their chin down to their clavicle, i would recommend they see their doctor for an evaluation.

Possibly: Abscesses that cause a lot of swelling in the mouth are the type that can spread to neck lymph nodes . This then becomes a cellulitis and can spread along facial planes to the heart, or even upward to the brain.
Any mouth swelling should be checked by your dentist.

Very true!: It can be very common to see the lymph nodes swell in the neck in one or more if something stimulates the immune system such as in the throat , teeth, or even the face area.  If an area gets inflamed then it can cause the lymph nodes to react to that response to protect your body from invasion by bacteria.  Of course you need to watch it and check if persists or gets much worse.  Hope this helps!
