Various: Warm compresses to bring the infections to a head, topical medications.  The vast majority of folliculitis heals within a couple of weeks.  If it is persists or if it is severe, you may need systemic antibiotics.

In grown hair: Hair can curl back during shaving and go sideways into the skin. This may be infected and cause folliculitis. The only way to prevent this is to stop shaving or use tweezers.

Not exactly.: Folliculitis typically appears like red pus bumps, with each bump forming over a hair follicle.  Herpes is typically described as a crop or cluster of vesicles. The vesicles usually have a clear fluid in the center of the bump and are painful or itchy. See your dermatologist for proper diagnosis and management.

No antifungal.: Folliculitis on the buttocks is usually caused by a superficial bacterial infection.  Therefore, antifungals are not usually effective for folliculitis. A topical antibiotic such as prescription Clindamycin is my treatment of choice for folliculitis.

Uncleaned hot tub.: Hot tub folliculitis is an infection of the hair follicles. The bacteria causing the infection is called pseudomonas aeruginosa, and is associated with skin contacting bacteria-contaminated water in hot tubs or whirlpools. The infection is treated with antibiotics.
