Possible allergy: Call the doctor who did the colonoscopy and see if he gave you any medications that you could be allergic to. Over the counter antihistaminemay be helpful.

: There are no gastric issues that per se cause skin lesions. Celiac disease may be associate with skin lesions and hives and itchy skin may be a manifestation of food allergies.

i have been taking antihistamines for my hives (entire body), and they are working. but now i developed a small area of skin that's itchy and dry, and it has gotten bigger every day because i scratch it in sleep. can this be caused by antihistamines?

No: As you have suspected, it is likely from the scratching.  Consider taking your antihistamine up to 4 x daily to control the itching.  You can also switch to a different antihistamine if you suspect that your current antihistamine is causing the problem.  In the meanwhile, leave a bottle of anti-itch agent at your bedside to control the itching during the night.

With the temporary: nature sounds like some allergic response to quick exposure, i.e. nail polish, acidic foods. see derm when rash present

i was diagnosed with dermotagraphia which causes my skin to become very itchy for long periods of time and whenever i scratch my skin breaks out into hives. my doctor prescribed that i take zyrtec every day. will this cause negative side effects?

: Zyrtec shouldn't have any important side effects. The cause of dermatograhia is vary elusive. I usually refer such patients to an allergist for evaluation,treatment &amp; follow-up.

58 year old what would cause back, thigh, arms skin to feel prickly/itchy several weeks.feels like you have on wool or been in insulation. have history of intermittent chronic hives since age 30. no hives with this. taking claritin but not helping?

: At age 58 it is essential that every day, especially after bathing, that a quality moisturizing cream , not lotion, be applied all over and rubbed in well .
Get help to apply to back.
Claritin would help hives but not this type of itch.
If itchy when sleeping , take a Benadryl before going to bed.

what causes itchy skin when being overtired? is it just stress?

Itchy skin: It stems from what the purpose of sleep is for your body. When you sleep, your immune system is going to work, repairing cells and healing your body. When your body is deprived of sleep, your immune system is weakened and probably didn't get a chance to do its job. Your skin is probably itchy because you may have a small allergy that does not effect you when you're fully rested.

does stress cause health issues as i have had anxiety for a few years off and on and i've recently had it come back and i'm very stressed and starting to get issues like itchy skin,headaches,i've been hot and sweaty more often for no reason aswell?

: It's possible, but please don't try to diagnose yourself. Appropriator you to see your General Practitioner for a full physical examination and lab tests.  If you don't have one, nows the time to find one. GP may also want you to see specialists such as Dermatologist, Psychiatrist, Allergist, etc. There is help available for dealing with your anxiety.

Can make worse: Stress can make this worse. You probably have dermographism. See dermatologist to discuss cause and treatment options.

Not necessarily: It's more common during winter months.
