i have always had a period for seven days heavy to light. this time it lasted only three days, there is very light spotting. i have never had this?

Abnormal: If you are experiencing daily bleeding, the absolute first thing that you must do is to check a pregnancy test.  If this is negative, then in  the setting of pcos, this is probably breakthrough bleeding related to non-ovulatory cycles.

Can take a year: It can take up to a year for your periods to get back to normal after being on depo-provera shots. it is a good sign that you are having a period now but it can be irregular bleeding off and on for a few more months. I hope you get back to a regular cycle soon.
