No: Sperm can live in the female genital tract for several days.  This is one of the reasons for the high failure rate of natural family planning.

Odd post: Yes sperm become ineffective &amp; die within 4-5 days after release under the best possible environmental conditions. (Inside the female genital tract) Whether or not this is also the fertile window is another issue.

Theory vs. Reality: Theoretically yes. But, most men who ejaculate are ejaculating millions of sperm each time. Millions of sperm are designed to swim to the readied egg.  It only takes one sperm to cause pregnancy and there are millions trying with each ejaculation.

Swimming sperm: Mature sperm are swimming "champs" traversing through the vagina when released. Immature sperm often are missing their tails and, of course, it is impossible to move without a tail. Sperm production is best when intercourse ejaculation intervals are 48 hours or more apart, which is why it is recommended for fertility windows. Take the "plunge" and go every other day to the  "sperm pool".

: By UPTODATE: In general, motility is not an important factor in independently predicting the probability of natural pregnancy, unless a very high percentage of sperm in ejaculate are immotile.
Per my opinion, daily sex during the ovulation period is more than enough.

Pregnancy : Best estimates would put ovulation at day 14 or 16 so intercourse recommended on day 10, 12, 14, &amp; 16 with abstinence on the in between days. Stay away from tight underwear and smoking and take prenatal vitamins.

: Sperm are created with a limited amount of stored energy reserves. They will become ineffective &amp; die within 4-5 days after release under the best possible environmental conditions. (Inside the female genital tract) They die within minutes outside of favorable environmental conditions. Whether or not this is also the fertile window is not relevant to their length of survival.

Probably not: but it may be preferable to remain laying down for 1-2 hours after sexual intercourse in order to give the sperm a better chance of swimming into the cervix,  and eventually reaching the end of fallopian tube where it can fertilize the egg.  The sperm have a long journey to make and swimming against gravity can only make it more difficult.
