Yes: Molar tooth roots can extend into the maxillary (cheek) sinuses.  During a difficult extraction of molar teeth, the bone and mucosal lining around the tooth and sinus floor can get disrupted creating an opening between the mouth and sinus cavity.  This opening or fistula, by introducing oral cavity bacteria into the sinus, can lead to sinus disease.

Dry socket: As you describe your symptoms you do not have a dry socket.  With a dry socket you loose the healing blood clot and  have intense pain. Follow the instructions give by your  dentist for the best healing.

Dry sockets?: First you are correct, the likelihood is much less on upper teeth. Drink anything nutritious.

Time: A hematoma or bruise just needs time to get better.  You can use warm and cold compresses to help things along and ease pain, should there be some.

See surgeon: If you are concerned about a bump on your cheek, contact your surgeon to evaluate the condition. It maybe a normal feature, a result of surgery that will resolve with time, or a occurrence that need treatment.  They can determine the bump and what to be done.

Go back to OS: I would go back to the oral surgeon/dentist and have the area evaluated and possibly professionally debrided (cleaned/flushed out.)  Trying to do so yourself may cause infection or other problems, and slow the healing process
