can chewing tobacco cause chronic cough?

Unlikely: The most common causes of chronic cough are asthma, allergic rhinitis, sinus infections and acid reflux from the stomach.  A person with a chronic cough should be evaluated so a treatment can be directed at the cause of the cough.  Even though chewing tobacco is unlikely to trigger a chronic cough, there are serious adverse effects including cancer of the mouth.

Yes: if you are swallowing the tobacco juice, some of it may reflux and end up in your trachea and larynx causing a cough.  One more reason to stop a harmful (and some would say disgusting) habit.  More important than cough is the potential for head and neck cancer (mouth, larynx, throat, esophagus). Get help in stopping now!!!

Tobacco: Hopefully nothing will happen. THe biggest issue is that the particles may lead to a localized pneumonia due to them being stuck deeper down the bronchial tree.

No: It can cause other issues like risk of oral cancer. But it has not been implicated causing copd.

Pollutants: All of the pesticides, fungicides and herbicides used on the growing tobacco leaves when they go throught the liver are turned into "estrogen-like" compounds resulting in over-estroginized men and women. They also contain heavy metals all of these can cause various forms of cancers.

Not sure: Looking at the ingredients (http://www.smokeysnuff.com/faq.html), should be much safer than tobacco products.
No research that I know of has been done.

Snuff: Recent study from sweded showed that snuff can increase the risk of non-ischemic heart failure by increasing blood pressure & heart rate.

Would avoid: Although probably better than the tobacco containing snuff, it still is not the healthiest choice for you and your teeth and gums.

Tobacco cessation: Programs work as well with snuff, chewing tobacco and other forms of nicotine ingestion as they do with smoking cigarettes. Snus get people hooked by absorption of nicotine through the oral mucous membranes. Nicotine replacement therapy with patches, lozenges etc. Is a usual first step. Bupropion and varenicline (chantix) may be second steps. A formal program is very useful.
