No connection: Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) is the most frequent cause of roseola.●Roseola classically begins with three to five days of fever that may exceed 40ºC (104ºF); as the fever abates, a blanching macular or maculopapular rash develops, starting on the neck and trunk and spreads to the face and extremities. It is self limited and benign. I do not believe your symptoms are caused by Roseola!

No: Roseola is almost always a harmless viral illness also called 6th disease. It affects children up to 2 years of age, causing fever and a rash. The illness lasts about 1 week without sequelae. It occasionally affects adults also but is also a mild infection in them.

Dx by Hx & exam: I don't recall ever needing or doing a "test" for roseola. It is a minor illness that is common & distinctive in its features.Most will label the process when enough features present, which often takes a few days. In a research setting, blood tests obtained at the time of first fever & 2-4 weeks later will document rise in antibody production to the virus.

Childhood exanthems: Rubeola is measles; high fever, charateristic "cobblestone" rash; conjunctivitis, pinpoint white spots on oral mucosa(koplick spots) and severe cough. Preventible with MMR vaccine. Roseola is due to herpes type 6&7 viruses; high fever for 2-3 days followed by pale pink, blanching rash of face and torso. No vaccine for this illness. May be a cause of febrile convulsion otherwise benign.

3-4 days: Typical roseola (roseola infantum) causes noticeable fever for 3-4 days followed by an appearance of generalized rash as fever subsides in young children.  The rash lasts only for a day or two.

Many: Roseola: rash starts after fever breaks. Rubella: rash begins while still fever present. 

Roseola:rash does not make it to face
rubella: rash starts on hairline, forehead, neck and behind the ears.

Rubella :rash is often first sign of symptoms
roseola :rash comes after fever ends

rubella: congenitally can be severe
roseola: (over 95% of women are already immune) and few defects found to date.

#1: Don't Panic!: Roseola is one of the least serious infections out there, but it can produce scary-looking thermometer readings (my personal record is 105.9 f).  That's dangerous because a parent can have a heart attack looking at the thermometer; the only danger to the child is being overdosed with fever medicines because of fear of fever.  Hydration, patience, and normal doses of Acetaminophen are all you need.
